Why the name Breakpoints

In software development, a breakpoint is an intentional stopping or pausing place in a program, put in place for debugging purposes. It is also sometimes simply referred to as a pause.

More generally, a breakpoint is a means of acquiring knowledge about a program during its execution. During the interruption, the programmer inspects the test environment (general-purpose registers, memory, logs, files, etc.) to find out whether the program is functioning as expected. In practice, a breakpoint consists of one or more conditions that determine when a program's execution should be interrupted.

Before Breakpoints.live got its name and inspiration, Chance Jiang, bpDAO Director, has been using the brand tikoly to host content produced by tikolyDAO and its community partners from around the world.

tikoly as a trademark owned by Chatek LLC was built in order to become the commercial entity and brand to open source community efforts around DuoNB, the sustainable, renewable and distributed energy and data networking standards, via DuoNB Foundation. tikoly was once used as the content channel during 2024 but eventually it was retired from the job, and only used for all the sustainable tech innovation projects led under DuoNB Foundation.

In Dec 2024, tikolyDAO made the decision to migrate the content under breakpoints.tikoly.com onto breakpoints.live. And the transition started from then on.
